Ivar opened Seattle's first aquarium on Pier 3 (now Pier 54) on the Seattle waterfront in 1938. He soon realized his customers were hungry and began selling them fish ‘n chips and his homemade clam chowder. Who knew that this one location would blossom into the seafood and chowder empire that exists today?
