The Top 10 Most Fin-Tastic Things To Do This June!

We can feel it… the days are starting to get longer and the sun – dare we say it -- is starting to shine through those Pacific Northwest clouds. That could only mean one thing: the start of summer is just around the corner!

June is one of the most clamtastic times of year here in the Seattle area, so we’ve put together a list of our favorite things to do during the month of June and hope you, your friends and family get out there and enjoy it!

Go on a hike.

We’re big fans of the great outdoors and the Pacific Northwest has plenty of that to offer. One of the most popular activities we, and Seattleites all around, enjoy when the sun comes out is hiking. From well-known trails like Rattlesnake Ledge and Mount Si, to roads less traveled like Lake Serene and Heybrook Lookout, there’s a hike for any age and stage in the PNW. While you’re heading back home from a long day of hiking, you might want to make a stop at one of our Seafood Bars for a quick, refueling bite to eat, too!

Go to a Mariners game.

We sure love sports, and there’s nothing better than enjoying a baseball game at the newly named T-Mobile Park, when the sun is out. Well, there is something that makes it a little better…enjoying an IvarDog or Garlic Fries while cheering on the Mariners! Visit our locations inside the park on the First Base side near section 117 or on the Third Base side near section 335, grab yourself something to snack on and maybe the M’s will hit a home run or two!

Visit the Seattle Waterfront.

There’s no doubt watching the sun set over Elliott Bay during the summertime is a favorite of ours and, of course, the best place to do so is on the waterfront. You can enjoy a carousel ride, hop onto the Seattle Great Wheel, shop for souvenirs and enjoy many seafood dining options. On Pier 54, our Acres of Clams location is the best place for meeting friends or family, grabbing a drink and enjoying delicious, fresh local seafood all while watching a gorgeous Seattle sunset. Our patio seating sits right on the water for a true waterfront experience, just be on the lookout for our seagull friends who like to enjoy a fry or two!

Paddle board on Lake Union.

There are only so many days out of the year when you can get out on the water and enjoy the sun in Seattle, and one of the best ways to do so is paddle boarding on Lake Union! Watch seaplanes land right in front of you, paddle around the entire lake and even stop by our Salmon House location for a nice meal after a day of play on the water. There are many paddle board rental shops near the water for convenience, so check them out.

If you’re just looking for one-day activities to enjoy with friends and family, here’s a list of some fun events happening soon.

  • Seattle Film Festival (ends June 9) – Enjoy the tail end of the festival by watching independent films, features and documentaries at the largest film festival in the U.S.
  • Furry 5k (June 9) – Bring your furry friend (dog) and join other animal lovers for a run (or walk) to raise money for the Seattle Animal Shelter Help the Animals Fund.
  • Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon (June 9) – Take in Puget Sound and Lake Union views while running the course that benefits St. Jude and its patients. This year’s course swerves along Ivar’s Salmon House so be on the lookout for a Running Clam.
  • Seattle Urban-X (June 15) – Gather a team of adventurous individuals for Seattle’s scavenger race made for exploring and experiencing the city.
  • Fremont Solstice Parade (June 22) - Join the Fremont Arts Council in its most spectacular event to watch a parade of community-based ensembles take the streets of Fremont, including giant puppets, stilt walkers, floats, dancers and musicians.
  • Pride Parade (June 30) – Feel the love around every corner of the city during the parade that creates unity, honors diversity and strives for equality in human rights.

How you enjoy Seattle in June is up to you since there are so many great options. We think it’s one of the most perfect times of the year because there are still a few of those rainy days that we’re so fond of, but for the most part, the month is filled with the warm sunny days that enable us to get out and experience all that Seattle has to offer. Whether you’re one to sit back and relax to take in a sunset, or an adventurer who likes to explore, there are plenty of things to do!
