For the past 15 years, Ivar’s Restaurants has called on Washington state students to submit reasons why their classroom leader should be recognized as “Teacher of the Year,” and every year hundreds of entries pour in telling inspiring tales of creative teaching and mentoring. This year was no exception – Ivar’s is pleased to announce HaLee Webster of Crestwood Elementary as the grand prize winner of the Teacher of the Year award.

Well, Seattle travelers and SeaTac employees, it was fun and tasty while it lasted. After 12 years, Ivar’s will be out at SeaTac, the Seattle Port Commission announced today.

“We’re disappointed,” said Ivar’s president Bob Donegan. We have loved serving our loyal customers at SeaTac and we’re very sorry we won’t be able to continue. The Port has selected companies other than Ivar’s for leases at SeaTac, so we will be finishing our tenancy there early in 2019.”

After reviewing hundreds of worthy submissions from kindergarten through eighth grade students, who nominated their most inspiring teachers, Ivar’s announced today that it awarded two Washington state educators as “Teacher of the Year” for its 14th annual contest. The Ivar’s grand prize went to Kirsten Jewett of View Ridge Elementary in Seattle.


The iconic fish bar was recently named a Top 10 Best Airport Grab-And-Go Dining option by USA Today's 10Best list, and was ranked by the Huffington Post among 14 Restaurants That are Worth a Layover. Rounding out the accolades, the popular airport location also recently won SeaTac's Green Gateway Environmental Excellence Award.

This year was no exception as Ivar's is pleased to announce William Miller of Thurgood Marshall Elementary (Seattle School District) as the grand prize winner.

In a bid to reel in today’s tech savvy food consumers, Ivar’s unveiled a new approach to its world-famous clam chowder: instead of hot out of the pot, it will be served fresh off the press, thanks to 3D printing.

It’s that time of year again to honor Washington state’s best and brightest educators! Ivar’s and Kidd Valley Restaurants are calling on all kindergarten through eighth graders to nominate their favorite “out of this world” teacher for a chance to take home the 2016 Teacher of the Year honors. 

On Tuesday, March 15, hungry seafood fans can catch a “reel” deal at Ivar’s Seafood Bars and full-service restaurants in celebration of what would have been the 111th birthday of Ivar Haglund, the restaurants’ iconic flounder. Throughout the day fans who purchase one regularly priced entrée and wish Ivar “Happy Birthday,” will receive a second entrée of their choice – from a special birthday menu – for just $1.11.

Once again, Ivar’s Restaurants brings the season a glow with festive holiday events, entertainment and special activities throughout the entire month of December. 

After a 273-day closure due to the Seawall Project construction, Seattle’s original waterfront restaurant Ivar’s Acres of Clams and Fish Bar “o-fish-ially” reopens its doors Wednesday, July 1. With the $20 million whale of a transformation comes a completely overhauled interior, including an expanded state-of-the-art kitchen, additional seating and Elliott Bay’s best outdoor patio offering breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains.
