Thousands of holiday lights brighten up Renton’s Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park


What:        This Friday, Ivar’s hosts its popular annual Clam Lights ceremony to kick off the holiday season! As one of the largest, free lighted public displays on the Eastside, park greenery, holiday scenes and, of course, Ivar’s famous Dancing Clams, will be covered in thousands of twinkling lights. While there, spectators can also enjoy the Ivar’s Famous Santa Clam in person, Argosy Christmas Ship, Rainier Yacht Club Boat Parade, festive tunes from local musicians, Santa’s covered wagon, warm chowder or hot chocolate by Ivar’s and more.

When :         Opening Night Lighting Ceremony: Friday, Dec. 5, 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. – Lighting ceremony led by Renton Mayor Denis Law at 7 p.m.


Opening night photo opp highlights and activities include:

·        6:15 – 7:30 p.m.: Performance by Lindbergh High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble

·        6:30 – 8:30 p.m.: Tractor-pulled wagon hay rides by Reber Ranch and merriment from Ivar’s famous Dancing “Santa” Clam interacting with spectators

·        6:40 p.m.: Dance by Blue Dog Dance and Performing Arts

·        7 p.m.: Welcome and official lighting ceremony by Mayor Denis Law

·        7:15 – 8 p.m.: Festive bonfire and community sing-a-long

·        7:30 p.m.: Rainier Yacht Club’s “Parade of Boats”

·        8 – 8:20 p.m.: Argosy Christmas Ship’s annual appearance with Christmas decorations

Lighting display to continue nightly (5 – 9 p.m.) through Jan. 1, 2015.
